Bipartisan Group of Legislators form to Help Kentuckians with Disabilities

A bipartisan group of legislators committed to helping Kentuckians with disabilities came together in the Kentucky House chamber on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, to announce that they are forming the “Engage & Empower Caucus.” The caucus will be co-chaired by Representatives Al Gentry and Brandon Reed. Both representatives said they came together to form this caucus because they understand the challenges facing those with disabilities. Rep. Gentry lost an arm due to a workplace accident, while Rep. Reed has cerebral palsy. The caucus highlighted several bills they’ve filed or plan to fill, which includes legislation for dyslexia education, alert systems for those with defined impairments and at-risk veterans, mental health, and tax credits for those who modify their homes for more accessibility.
