Superintendent Danny Adkins has announced the results of the 2019 Floyd County Schools Spelling Bee. Brody Jones, a 7th grade student from James D. Adams Middle School, is the district winner, with South Floyd Elementary 6th grade student Taylor Stumbo coming in as runner up. Students who complete in the district spelling bee are school champions from grades 4th through 8th. Students competed in the district spelling bee on Friday, February 8, 2019 in the auditorium at Floyd Central High School. School winners were Jada Reynolds, 7th grade at Allen Elementary; Elijah Kidd, 8th Grade, Betsy Layne Elementary; Kaylee Boyd, 8th, Duff-Allen Central; Allyson Newsome, 6th Grade, John M Stumbo; Braxton Howard, 5th Grade May Valley; and Amelia Gilbert, 4th Grade, Prestonsburg.
