Superintendent Danny Adkins has announced the results of the 2019 Floyd County Schools Spelling Bee. Brody Jones, a 7^th grade student from James D. Adams Middle School, is the district winner, with South Floyd Elementary 6^th grade student Taylor Stumbo coming in as runner up. Students who complete in the district spelling bee are school champions from grades 4^th through 8^th. Students competed in the district spelling bee on Friday, February 8, 2019 in the auditorium at Floyd Central High School. School winners were Jada Reynolds, 7^th grade at Allen Elementary; Elijah Kidd, 8^th Grade, Betsy Layne Elementary; Kaylee Boyd, 8^th, Duff-Allen Central; Allyson Newsome, 6^th Grade, John M Stumbo; Braxton Howard, 5^th Grade May Valley; and Amelia Gilbert, 4^th Grade, Prestonsburg.
