The Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead was notified around 11:30am Wednesday, March 13, 2019, of an injury collision on Interstate 64 in Bath County. After further investigation, it was determined that 47-year-old John Walls, of Beecher County, Illinois, was operating a commercial vehicle in the eastbound lane of Interstate 64. Christopher Short, 44, of Mount Sterling, was operating a 2019 Ford F-150 traveling westbound on Interstate 64. Walls’s commercial vehicle crossed the median, striking the F-150, causing fatal injuries to Short, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by Bath County Coroner Andrew Owens. Walls was transported to Saint Claire Regional Medical Center for treatment. The collision remains under investigation.
