Magoffin County Man Convicted on Drug Trafficking Charge

A Magoffin County man has been convicted for drug trafficking. Danny Porter, of Salyersville, was convicted by a federal jury on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, for conspiring with two Indiana women to traffic oxycodone pills in Magoffin County. The jury also convicted Porter of possessing oxycodone pills with the intent to distribute them, but was acquitted of a firearm offense. Evidence at trial established that, for two years, Porter made monthly trips to Indiana to obtain hundreds of oxycodone pills, which he brought back to sell in Magoffin County. Porter faces up to twenty years in prison.
