Beginning Monday, April 8, 2019, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 workers on US 23 in Ivel will be using dump trucks to remove smaller rocks, tree limbs, dirt, debris, and other material that is currently resting in the slide area. Engineering Branch Manager Darold Slone said that it all has to come off the mountain. He added that some material may escape during the loading and hauling process, which may lead to short traffic stops. At times when the work zone lanes are open and traffic is moving, drivers should observed the reduced speed limit of 45 miles per hour.
