Update: Body Identified in Floyd County Death Investigation

Update: Following up on a report of a body found in Floyd County, there is now a positive identification. The body was found on Thursday, April 4, 2019 in a grave located in the yard of a residence in Wayland. The body was positively identified as 26-year-old Jordan Tackett of East Point. Tackett was the subject of a missing person case opened by Kentucky State Police in February of this year. A suspect, 44-year-old Wesley Martin, of Wayland, was charged with murder in connection with this case and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.

Original Story: Kentucky State Police Post 9 have opened a death investigation after discovering a body in a clandestine grave located in the yard of a residence in the Wayland area of Floyd County. Upon receiving information about the body, Troopers and Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence. Just after 4pm, a body was discovered buried in the back yard, a short distance from the residence. At this time, no arrests have been made in connection to this investigation. The body was removed by the Floyd County Coroner’s Office and will be taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and positive identification. This investigation is ongoing and we will update this story when more information becomes available.
