Governor Matt Bevin has recognized the sacrifice of a Kentucky solider who died in Iraq while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Ryan Dennis Orin Riley, 22, of Richmond, Kentucky, died April 20, 2019 in Ninawa Province, Iraq, in a non-combat-related incident. The incident is under investigation. Riley was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Service arrangements are pending. Flags at state facilities will be directed to lower to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of Spc. Riley’s internment.
