Floyd County Schools has announced the results of Regional and State Science Olympiad competitions for middle and high school students. The Regional competition was held at the University of Pikeville on March 2, 2019, and the state competition took place on April 13, 2019 at the University of Kentucky. Allen Elementary were the 2019 Regional Middle School Science Olympiad Champions and advanced to state competition along with South Floyd Elementary who placed third. At the high school level, Betsy Layne High School was the Regional Runner Up.  At state competition, Allen Elementary placed in the top 10 in three events, and Betsy Layne High School students placed second in the event “Write to Do It.”
