National Astronomy Day Activities at East Kentucky Science Center

The East Kentucky Science Center and Varia Planetarium is celebrating National Astronomy Day on Saturday May 11, 2019. Special activities are currently planned, with planetarium shows, hands on science, NASA handouts, and door prizes, which include a chance to win a telescope. Attendees may also view NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope exhibit, which will be on display through May 18, 2019. This year will feature special guest speaker Maurice Henderson, a NASA engineer who serves as the project engineer for the Hubble Space Telescope Exhibit and Science on a Sphere. He will be giving talks about the Hubble Space Telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope, and Science on a Sphere, which is making its first appearance as part of the Hubble Exhibit at the Science Center. The East Kentucky Science Center will be open on Astronomy Day from noon to 4pm.
