On Monday, May 13, 2019, the Hazard Police Department received an anonymous tip of possible child abuse at Gorman Hollow. Lt. Jessica Cornett responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. After completing a Forensic Interview of a 7-year-old male, an adult male who watched the child on several occasions was interviewed. After interviewing the adult, identified as 25-year-old Brandon Sumner, it was determined that criminal acts had occurred. Sumner was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor. He was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
