Pikeville Medical Center is honoring Purple Heart medal recipients with a unique tribute. In the PMC parking garage on the second floor, there is now a parking spot that has been painted purple in honor of those recipients. The project was inspired by James Hartsock, of Pikeville, who received the Purple Heart during his time serving with the US Army in Afghanistan. Pikeville Medical Center CEO Donovan Blackburn said they are proud of our heroes and are excited to publicly display those sentiments to Purple Heart recipients with a permanent parking spot in the parking garage.
