
Two troopers on patrol near the intersection of KY 1559 and Puncheon Creek and things escalated quickly after stopping a vehicle. One of the troopers went to talk to the driver, Phillip Burgin and that is when the trooper noticed Burgin had active warrants for his arrest.
The trooper attempted to arrest Burgin, which resulted in him reversing his car and trying to make a swift get away.
According to the citation, Burgin hit the gas and drove away in reverse. The trooper was still holding on to the window and was dragged about 75 feet
Burgin hit a hillside.The trooper was knocked off of the vehicle.
After a short chase and getting hit by a taser, Burgin made it to a creek where he and the trooper scuffled. The second trooper caught up and helped handcuff him.
ALL involved were treated at a hospital.
And Burgin was then taken to Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
He is facing charges for third-degree assault of a police officer, fleeing or evading police in a car and on foot, second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, reckless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and driving under the influence.
