A veteran who recently made Elkhorn City his home is using art to escape his post-traumatic stress disorder.
Paul Burress was an Air Force crew chief for six years. After his military days, he worked for signs companies and grew his love for art.
His art allows him to escape his PTSD. His triggers, however, are not connected to his time in the military. He said he was raised in unsafe areas and never felt at home.
He has worked on sketches and recently painted wings on the side of RFG Society coffeeshop.
He then worked with Bob’s Sport Shop to create a post-card themed design for a shirt. The design contains different characteristics of the city that Burress considers unique.
His most recent black and white postcard design for the city is being sold on T-shirts at Bob’s Sporting Goods and RFG Society. A colored version is also in the works.
