
A Johnson County teacher was honored with a prestigious award.
Fourth grade Highland Elementary school Math teacher received the Presidential Award of Mathematics and Science Teaching. This is the nation’s highest honor given by the U.S. government to K-12 educators. Mrs. Ramey said she was excited to bring this award back home to the mountains.
She traveled to D.C. were she was honored at a banquet at the Kennedy Center, and an awards ceremony at the Department of the Interior. Congressman Hal Rogers also honored Ramey in his office at the Capitol. Ramey also received a tour of the White House, plus a certificate from President Donald Trump.
