It’s Election Day! Here’s what you need to know…

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. If you are in line at 6 p.m., you have to be allowed to vote.

Registered voters must vote at their designated precincts. To find information about your precinct location and legislative district, visit govoteky.com

When you go to your polling place, you must bring ID or be recognized by a precinct officer working there.

Acceptable forms of ID include driver’s license, Social Security card, county-issued ID approved in writing by the State Board of Elections, U.S. government-issued ID, Kentucky state government-issued ID with a picture, credit card or another form of ID with both a picture and a signature.

The Secretary of State’s office recommends you verify your voter registration status before you head to the polls. Which you can do so here.

The Secretary of State’s office also advises you to ask a poll worker for instructions on how to use the voting machine or other procedural questions.

Several state offices are up for election. This includes governor, secretary of state, attorney general, auditor of public accounts, state treasurer and commissioner of agriculture. There are, however, some county-specific races that are on certain ballots. Find a sample ballot here.

Make sure you notify officials immediately if you encounter any problems at the polls.
