A man is behind bars after deputies said he locked his wife in the house and tried to attack them.
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Johnny Burdine, 62, of London yesterday morning around 6:52 a.m.
When deputies arrived, they saw a woman through the glass in the front door who said her husband padlocked her inside the home and would not let her leave. She also said that he threatened to kill her if she left.
Deputies could hear Burdine yelling and beating on something in the basement. They forced the front door open, allowing the wife to exit the home.
Burdine then came running through the house toward deputies with a large crowbar and a hammer. After being asked multiple times to drop the weapons, he did so and ran onto the front porch yelling and cursing.
Deputies determined that Burdine was under the influence.
Johnny Burdine was charged with unlawful imprisonment – first-degree; disorderly conduct – second-degree; resisting arrest; menacing.
