Deputies in Laurel County got a complaint about a man passed out in a car.

The engine was running when they got to the vehicle; a handgun and knife were found on the man.  

They say he reached for the handgun during the investigation.

Deputies determined the man, Scottie Abrams, was under the influence.

Deputies also found suspected meth, scales and a syringe. 

Abrams was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
