The Pikeville Community Kitchen hosted its Christmas celebration lunch Monday, inviting community members for a hot meal, gifts, and more.

During the lunch, the Pikeville Fire Department filled and handed out fruit bags to the families in attendance.

Organizers of the community kitchen say the Pikeville Fire Department helps make the event possible each year.

“They actually come every Christmas here. Every Christmas community lunch,” said Meghan Hamilton with the Pikeville Community Kitchen. “They actually help us give the food bags. They help us greet and meet the people and just be the great guys that they are.”

The firefighters filled and handed out around 100 bags.
