The City of Prestonsburg and the Floyd County Emergency & Rescue Squad are making sure citizens stay warm.

Last night after 9pm gas went out around the Goble Roberts area in Prestonsburg but the city made sure that all citizens had a warm place to go.

With cold weather with lows around 37 degrees, a gas outage caused first responders to spring into action.

Frontier Gas shut down a main line in order to repair a leak which was expected to have been fixed by yesterday evening but went into the night.

The City of Prestonsburg worked with the Floyd County Emergency & Rescue Squad going door to door in the outage area making sure everyone had a warm place to stay and directed them to the warming center and even offered to pick people up if they should need a ride.

When we talked to Les Stapleton this morning he was happy to announce that the gas was back on this morning.

The warming station was set up at the Rescue Squad building located at: 132 Cliff Rd, Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653

Les Stapelton has informed us here at Q95fm that should there be any further outages or other instances where a warming station to be needed that it will remain in that location and to find information you can check any and all of the following locations:

-The City of Prestonsburg Facebook page

-The City of Prestonsburg website

-Local Radio Stations

Also certain smart phones will send out alerts if in the area if covered by your provider.
