One Man Arrested After A Shootout

A man will face charges after he and his uncle traded gunfire. 

Kentucky State Police went to a home in Harlan County after Dispatchers got a call that Jerry Wayne Gilbert Jr. shot at his uncle, James Gilbert.

At Jerry’s home, Jerry’s wife claimed James tried to pull her through a window and fired a gun into their home. Then Jerry reportedly grabbed a shotgun and a rifle and returned fire.

James ran back to his vehicle but the gun fight continued Jerry told police he kept shooting because he was afraid if he did not kill them then they might come back to harm him and his wife.

James was flown out to Johnson City Medical Center with serious injuries but is stable. 

Jerry reportedly admitted to police that he was on Xanax Which he did not have a prescription for and several other medications. Police said he also smelled of alcohol but Jerry denied drinking.

Troopers seized Jerry Wayne Gilbert Jr. ‘s weapons and arrested Him after discovering he’s a convicted felon.
