Over the weekend the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home off Highway 490. The home is located in the Hazel Green community.

Investigators report that a domestic argument between spouses James Tyler McCowan and Charity McCowan resulted in the husband being shot at least two times with a pistol.

McCowan was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner. 

It is still unclear what led up to the argument, or the shots fired.

No charges were filed in relation to McCowan’s death.
