Gov. Beshear in a news conference Thursday afternoon confirmed two new cases of the coronavirus, one in Jefferson County and one in Fayette County.
He did not give any other info about those infected. That brought the total reported cases in the Commonwealth to 10.
The governor and state education officials are also recommended all schools stop in-person classes for the time being. If schools decide to close, it would start Monday, March 16th. The recommendation is for at least two weeks.
Officials have also asked the USDA to grant a waiver to provide food to students during the period. If approved, it will enable districts to be reimbursed for meals that they choose to serve to students on school closure days.
The suggestion comes on the same day we learned of a bill working its way through the state legislature that would allow for 10 more non-traditional instruction days.
Governor Beshear said he supports the proposed law and believes it has strong bipartisan support.
Governor Andy Beshear, then, took to Twittter Thursday Evening to announce the eleventh confirmed case of COVID-19 in Kentucky.
This new case is in Harrison County. The governor also ended that the state had 51 negative tests from their lab.
