
With the urgent need for at-home learning resources due to the COVID-19 outbreak, KET has developed free, high-quality learn-at-home educational resources, for students of all ages, families and educators, available through broadcast and online at KET.org/learnathome.
New broadcast line up serving school aged children
Beginning Monday, March 30, the normal weekday program schedule on KET’s primary channel, from 7/6 am to 5/4 pm, will now air a special lineup of programming covering a wide range of content for students, of all ages, including PBS programs that focus on content areas of social studies, math, science and English language arts. The programs will broadcast over the air through the network’s 16 transmitters located throughout the state and be accessible for children without internet access. Viewers can visit KET.org/learnathome for a weekly schedule.
KET.org/learnathome features free content for PreK-third grade, grades 4-8, and grades 9-12
K-12 students and educators have free access to an online portal of educational resources that can support learning and lessons at home. The material, aligned to state standards, is flexible and can serve as both supplemental and fundamental, based on need. Lesson plans and curriculum materials related to the PBS content are available to parents and teachers. Registration is not required.
- KET’s PBS LearningMedia This repository of thousands of classroom-ready resources aligned to state standards is a powerful educational resource that supports learning. Teachers and parents can search resources by grade level, subject area, keyword and standard. Content includes videos, games, lesson plans and supplemental materials. Content contributors include KET, PBS, PBS Kids, NASA, the National Archives, the Library of Congress and more.
- PreK-third grade collection features learning resources from PBS KIDS 24/7 KET PBS KIDS channel can be a great option for younger students when reliable internet access may be an issue. PBS KIDS series, online and apps are aligned to curriculum areas and specific learning.
- Grades 4-8 and 9-12 include information and digital resources from PBS Video clips and activities available by grade level and subject area.
Virtual professional development
KET’s Learn at Home toolkit is an extensive resource for teachers planning NTI day lessons for students in all grade levels. PBS LearningMedia’s Google Classroom integration makes it easy to share with students. Opportunities are available for educators to learn more about the free educational resources and ask questions about content-specific resources. Reach the KET Education team at NTI@ket.org.
