A Knox County deputy was searching for a suspicious car on Owens Hollow Road in the Gray Community when 49-year-old Thomas Owens shot multiple rounds from his house.

At the scene Owens walked outside of a residence armed with a firearm he failed to comply with the officer’s orders to drop the firearm and then pointed the gun at the officers.

Shots were fired striking Owens and he was  pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner’s Office.

This is an on-going investigation.
