Sunday Night Storms Blow Out Power For Thousands

More than 57,000 customers of Kentucky Power remain without electricity after a strong line of storms passed through the area Sunday night, knocking down trees and power lines. Crews found dozens of broken poles in the region, and some roads were inaccessible because of fallen trees and rock slides. Crews were working Monday to restore power and more workers were on the way, but more outages could occur because of continued high winds, the utility said. The damage was so widespread that Kentucky Power said it couldn’t estimate how long it would take to restore electricity to all customers. It will likely take several days, however. Kentucky Power customers can report outages or get information on restoration of power at kentuckypower.com/outages or by calling 800-572-1113.
