Health officials in Floyd County announced two new novel coronavirus infections during a news conference today.
One of the cases is a 21-month old child. The other is a 64-year-old woman.
The announcement came after the first case, a 22-year-old man, tested positive Tuesday morning.
The county now has a total of three cases.
Public Health Director Thursa Sloan says the Floyd County Health Department is working diligently to track down any possible spread through the three positive cases, saying that spread is something only the public can stop,
“Really, none of us are clear. We have to be cognitive of the signs and symptoms and monitor ourselves,” said Sloan. “Because you really, at this point, have no idea where you could pick this up. One of you today may have the Coronavirus. That’s the reality of it.”
She said working toward fewer numbers means working hard to maintain social distancing and adhering to self-quarantine practices.
According to Sloan, the patients were all tested in different facilities and their social spread impact is unknown at this point.
