Governor Andy Beshear managed to give his daily update on COVID-19 in Kentucky, despite boisterous protesting outside of the conference.

The governor reported 88 new cases and seven new deaths, though the governor said those could be understated.

That brings the totals to 2,291 and 122, respectively.

Portions of the governor’s announcement were difficult to hear, as protesters outside of the building were loudly demanding that Kentucky businesses reopen.

Protesters could be heard chanting “We are essential,” “Abortion is not essential,” and “We want to work.”

When asked to comment on the protests, the governor simply said, “I hope they are social distancing. If not, they are spreading the coronavirus.”

Videos circulating Facebook that have sense been taking down showed them not social distancing by six feet but still a little spread out. As well as them chanting “Families are essential”, as some stood with their children, wearing face masks. Several Kentuckians commented their distaste for the video, one citizen went as far to say “Shouting Open up Kentucky! while he reads off a list of today’s deceased was the most disrespectful thing I think I have ever witnessed in my entire life.”

Floyd County Health Officials announced two new cases, bringing their confirmed total to five.
