In yesterday’s daily COVID-19 update, Governor Andy Beshear announced 161 newly confirmed Coronavirus cases, bringing the state total to 3,481. Along with reporting six new deaths, bringing the death toll to 191. A total of 1,335 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
A total of 40% of the total deaths reported in Kentucky are nursing-home related.
Before the new deaths and cases were reported, Deputy Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Eric Friedlander, announced that everyone at Jackson Manor in Annville would be retested. At least 51 total positive cases and four deaths have been related to the nursing home.
The governor announced on Wednesday that all Kentuckians were now eligible for testing at state-run facilities whereas only people who had been exhibiting symptoms were previously eligible. Health officials have opened up new drive-thru testing facilities this week, including locations in Somerset and Pikeville.
