Officials with the Harlan County Detention Center say an inmate walked off from work release Tuesday afternoon.
Jail officals from the Department of Corrections, Community Services & Local Facilites, released a statement saying, David Parsons, age 38, was working in the jail garden planting potatoes when he walked away from the property close to 2:50 p.m.
Parsons is serving on charges out of Pike County where the Commonwealths Attorney posted he is considered dangerous.
Detention Center officials in Harlan say that is based solely on Pike County law enforcement dealings with Parsons. To the Department of Corrections and Harlan County Detention Center, Parsons is a level one inmate, meaning he is non-violent and not a danger to the community.
Officials are working with Kentucky State Police and the Harlan County Sheriffs Department to find Parsons.
David Parsons is 5′ 7″ 180 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Anyone with information as to where Parsons may be is asked to call Kentucky State Police.
