After days of searching for missing swimmers, reports have come in that search crews have recovered two bodies from Lake Cumberland.

Russell County Emergency Manager H.M. Bottom says crews picked something up on sonar Sunday evening. A robot was used to help recover the two bodies later that night and into Monday morning.

He then said they were transferred to County Coroner Mark Coots for identification and autopsy.

Searchers have been on the water daily since two swimmers who went missing on June 5.

Multiple agencies including teams from Russell, Wayne, Boone, Barren, and Pulaski counties aided in the search.

Flyers were also being passed out to visitors seeking volunteers for the search effort.

Both swimmers were international students and the families had been notified through their respective embassies of the students going missing.
