The University of Kentucky has moved its season opener against the Eastern Michigan Eagles ahead by two days to September 3rd. This was done in an effort to avoid conflict with the rescheduled 146th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.

This will be the first time that the Kentucky Derby didn’t run on the first Saturday in May since 1945. Meanwhile, the University of Kentucky Wildcats will play their 8th Thursday night game in modern times, and the first since hosting Auburn on Oct. 15th, 2015.
