New data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics show that Kentucky’s unemployment rate decreased in June.

The unemployment rate dropped from 6.6 percent to 4.3 percent, which is the same rate as of June last year.

Although the numbers have improved, economists say this should be taken with a grain of salt.

Employment did improve in June, but there were still approximately 158,000 fewer people employed in June than in February, according to the University of Kentucky’s Center for Business and Economic Research Director Mike Clark.

Unemployment rates decreased at the national level, as well. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the rate dropped from 13.3 percent to 11.1 percent in June.
