
Officials with the Floyd County Health Department took to their Facebook page yesterday afternoon with this update:
We have 7 new cases today of COVID 19. Total cases are 71 with 27 in isolation at this time. We are aware of several pending lab results so anymore positives today will be reported with tomorrow’s numbers. This information is shared to keep our community updated on the current status for those who have asked us to share daily including news media.
The virus in considered community acquired. Most of our cases are currently from travel, family gatherings, or from contacts of folks who are already cases. This virus and the cure is part of science. It is fluid until theories about it can be proven and that takes time. We will do our best to provide guidance to our community based on what we have been provided by those who are experts in the field. Meanwhile we are working days, nights, and weekends to keep our community as safe as we can.
Our goal is to try to keep those we work with, live among, and love safe. Please follow the advice you have been given to help control the number of folks in our area who will get the virus.
Our goal is not to harm anyone or cause anyone to be singled out or picked on by others. Anyone can get coronavirus. Please be kind and help others during this time.
