Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Lieut. Chris Edwards arrested Michael Rowland Hunter age 51 of Corbin on Tuesday afternoon October 6, 2020 at approximately 12:27 PM.

The arrest occurred in London following an investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff’s office into a complaint that a child less than 12 years of age had been sexually abused.

Following investigation by the Laurel County Sheriff’s office along with forensic interviews and medical examinations, Sheriff’s investigators determined that the female child who was eight years old at the time of the incident had been subjected to sexual intercourse.

Michael Rowland Hunter was charged with rape first-degree – victim 12 years of age or under. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County correctional center.
