COVID-19 by the numbers

As of 4 p.m. Nov. 8, Gov. Beshear reported the following COVID-19 numbers:

  • New cases Sunday: 1,177
  • New deaths Sunday: 4
  • Positivity rate: 7.24%
  • Currently hospitalized: 1,102
  • Currently in ICU: 279
  • Currently on ventilator: 148

Top counties with the most positive cases Sunday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Warren, Kenton and Boone.

Those reported lost to the virus Sunday include two 92-year-old men and a 77-year-old man from Hardin County; and a 76-year-old man from Marion County.

These new numbers bring Kentucky’s total case numbers to 120,838 though only 100,791 are lab confirmed and the remaining 20,047 are probable. KEntuckians death total due to COVID-19 has reached 1,565 lives lost. Though 1,538 are lab confirmed to be due to COVID-19 related complications and 27 are only probable.

Kentucky Deaths due to COVID-19 by Age Group: (Age group was available for 99.94% of reported deaths)

  • 776 were 80+
  • 417 were 70-79
  • 240 were 60-69
  • 92 were 50-59
  • 28 were 40-49
  • 12 were 39 or younger
