Kentucky State Police say there was a shooting Friday night in Letcher County.
Police say the shooting happened at a home on KY-588 in the Blackey community.
Troopers arrived shortly before 9 p.m. and found 26-year-old Zachary Back, who was pronounced dead on the scene by the Letcher County Coroner’s Office.
“Initial investigation indicates that a verbal altercation took place,” Trooper Matt Gayheart said. “At some point, it become physical, and at that point, led to the shooting.”
Gayheart said that while they deal with crime on a daily basis, they do not see situations such as this on a regular basis.
Police arrested 37-year-old Chad Bolling nearby in connection to the shooting.
