COVID-19 Update from Tuesday, Dec. 8th

During his 4 p.m. update on Tuesday, Dec. 8, Gov. Beshear reported 3,114 new cases of COVID-19. This bring’s Kentucky’s total cases to 205,668, with 169,569 of those cases being lab confirmed and 36,099 are probable.

Twenty new deaths were reported Tuesday. Those reported lost to the virus include a 92-year-old woman and a 92-year-old man from Bullitt County; two men, ages 52 and 72, from Boyd County; a 74-year-old woman from Fayette County; a 58-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman from Hopkins County; a 35-year-old woman and a 90-year-old man from Jefferson County; two men, ages 56 and 71, from Johnson County; two men, ages 37 and 83, from Lee County; a 78-year-old man from Marshall County; a 62-year-old man from Nelson County; an 87-year-old woman from Owsley County; two women, ages 78 and 90, and a 79-year-old man from Pike County; and a 66-year-old man from Scott County.

This makes a total of 2,102 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though _103 of those are probable and only 1,999 are lab confirmed.

A total of 3,008,341 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 2,786,379 were PCR Test, 97,055 were serology test, and 124,907 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 9.56%.

Currently 1,760 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 416 in the ICU and 207 on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases Tuesday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Warren, Kenton and Boone.

On a positve note, at least 30,358 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
