
On Tuesday, December 15th, 2,946 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in KY. 1,807 of those cases have been lab confirmed and 1,139 are probable.
A lab confirmed 191 of those cases and 149 probable (total of 340) were from Kentuckians who are 18 or younger.
This bring’s Kentucky’s total case number to 227,818, with 185,901 of those cases being lab confirmed and 41,917 are probable.
15 new deaths were reported Tuesday. This makes a total of 2,239 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 127 of those are probable and only 2,112 are lab confirmed.
49% of those who have lost the battle against COVID-19 have been in the 80+ age group. Though the age group with the most cases at 18.6% of all cases are Kentuckians who are 20-29 years old.
A total of 3,157,509 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 2,925,129were PCR Test, 98,612 were serology test, and 133,768 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 8.53%.
Currently 1,788 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 438 in the ICU and 246 on a ventilator.
Top counties with the most positive cases as of Tuesday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Warren, and Kenton. Each county makes up over 3% of Kentucky’s total cases with Jefferson County making up 19.9%
On a positve note, at least 32,234 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
