COVID-19 Update as of Sunday, January 3rd, 2021

As of Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 the state of Kentucky has reported 276,826 total cases of COVID-19 with 222,545 of those cases have been officially lab confirmed and 54,281 are probable.

A total of 2,723 Kentuckians have been lost due to the virus; though 190 of those are probable and only 2,533 are lab confirmed.

A total of 3,488,130 COVID-19 tests have been administered in Kentucky. 3,210,804 were PCR Test, 102,295 were serology test, and 175,031 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 11.12%.

Currently 1,677 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 421 in the ICU and 196 on a ventilator.

Based on regional statistics, Region 8 which includes Breathitt, Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe Counties 59.23% of inpatient capacity is currently in use, 85.29% of ICU capacity is in use and 30.14% of ventilator capacity for the region is in use.

On a positive note, at least 37,375 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
