COVID-19 Updates for Kentucky as of Tuesday, January 26th

On Tuesday, January 27th, the state of Kentucky reported 2,714 new cases of COVID-19. This makes a total of 350,528 reported cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth. 276,016 of those cases have been officially lab confirmed whereas the remaining 74,512 cases are probable.

This makes a total of 3,495 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 288 of those are probable and only 3,207 have been officially lab confirmed.

A total of 3,943,206 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 3,534,120 were PCR test, 106,392 were serology test, and 302,694 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 9.63%.

Currently 1,566 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 391 in the ICU and 228 on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases on Tuesday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Daviess, Warren, Kenton and Pike. Each of these counties reported 75 or more new cases; Jefferson County alone reported 440.

On a positive note, at least 41,878 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus. The Governor’s office also reports that 345,800 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been received in Kentucky and 271,339 doses have been administered, statewide. Of the 120,900 doses recieved by the LTCF Program, 48,269 have been administered to long-term care facility residents and staff.
