Case Information of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth as of Thursday, January 28th

On Wednesday, January 27th the state of Kentucky reported 2,424 new cases of COVID-19. This makes a total of 352,943 reported cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth. 277,341 of those cases have been officially lab confirmed whereas the remaining 75,602 cases are probable.

This makes a total of 3,542 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 294 of those are probable and only 3,248 have been officially lab confirmed.

A total of 3,964,224 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 3,545,049 were PCR Test, 106,506 were serology test, and 312,669 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 9.35%.

Currently 1,597 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. With 387 in the ICU and 225 on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases from Wednesday were: Jefferson, Fayette, Daviess, Kenton, Boone and Warren. Each of these counties reported 75 or more new cases; Jefferson County alone reported 330.

On a positive note, at least 41,925 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus. The Governor’s office also reports that 345,800 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been received in Kentucky and 288,063 doses have been administered, statewide. Of the 120,900 doses received by the LTCF Program, 50,443 have been administered to long-term care facility residents and staff.
