Kentucky COVID-19 Update for Monday, Feb. 8th

On Monday, February 8th, the state of Kentucky reported only 1,003 new cases of COVID-19. This makes a total of 378,793 reported cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth. 294,457 of those cases have been officially lab confirmed whereas the remaining 84,336 cases are probable.

This makes a total of 4,091 Kentuckians lost to the virus; though 371 of those are probable and only 3,720 have been officially lab confirmed.

A total of 4,197,293 COVID-19 test have been administered in Kentucky. 3,694,175 were PCR Test, 109,151 were serology test, and 393,967 were antigen test. The positivity rate currently stands at 7.78%.

Currently 1,163 Kentuckians are hospitalized due COVID-19 related symptoms. 274 Kentuckians are in the ICU and 142 are on a ventilator.

Top counties with the most positive cases, Monday, were: Jefferson, Fayette, Warren and Campbell. Each of these counties reported 30 or more new cases; Jefferson County alone reported 205.

At least 44,961 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus. The Governor’s office also reports that 410,050 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been received in Kentucky and 375,728 doses have been administered, statewide. Of the 80,925 doses received by the Long-Term Care Facility Program, 69,202 have been administered to long-term care facility residents and staff.
