Last week, Governor Andy Beshear signed House Bill 155 into law, a bill that will give mothers in crisis a way to surrender newborns that they cannot care for.

The bill allows “baby boxes” to be installed at fire stations and hospitals, where infants can be surrendered legally and anonymously.

Inside the boxes are alarms that will alert 911 so that first responders can find the surrendered child within minutes.

Supporters of this law hope to see ‘Baby Boxes’ installed by the Summer of 2021.
