No Knock Warrants in Kentucky Restricted

Kentucky Legislature has enacted a new law on Friday that will restrict, but not ban, the use of no-knock warrants. Before going to the governor’s desk for signature, Senate Bill 4 voted an overwhelming 34-0 in support of the new law. The bill states “No Arrest warrants or search warrants shall be issues authorizing entry without notice,” with 6 exceptions. An example of an exemption of this bill includes when the alleged crime qualifies a person as a violent offender and relevant evidence shows prior notice may endanger the life or safety of any person.
