Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on KY 90 in Wayne County around 10:33 p.m.
Police say 26-year-old Nicholas K. Kates was driving a 2001 Ford pickup truck when he lost control and ran into a ditch while traveling west on KY 90. Kates drove out of the ditch into the opposing lane hitting a commercial vehicle head-on. Kates died from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Peterbilt Tractor Trailer was taken to the Wayne County Hospital for minor injuries.
