Kentucky has resumed use of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, after roughly a week long halt on usage due to potentially causing rare blood clots. Dr. Steven Stack spoke Monday about the CDC’s guidelines on allowing this vaccine to be administered to those 18 and older. Dr. Stack also said that there were seemingly no links between these blood clots and other medications such as birth control. He also stated that getting the vaccine will still dramatically decrease the chances of death or severe illness.
Dr. Stack says that the demographic that has been effected by blood clots from the Johnson and Johnson vaccine are women under 50, and says that while the risks are ‘diminishingly low’ that those who have concerns about safety can still access the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
