In a special press conference held earlier today, May 14th, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced an end to the state-wide mask mandate and capacity restrictions, scheduled for June 11th. This coming just one day after the governor announced that Kentucky would be following CDC-recommended guidelines, allowing fully-vaccinated-individuals to be without their masks in most situations.
The governor also explained that the June 11th date was chosen so that 12-15-year-olds would have time to get vaccinated before the mandate is lifted. The removal of the mask mandate will also see restrictions for those who are considered to be apart of the state’s most vulnerable population.
Officials warn that, though it will no longer be required, those who have not been vaccinated are still at risk and should continue to wear their masks.
Businesses will still have the option to mandate masks inside of their facilities.
