On Tuesday, May 18th, the Pikeville Medical Center COVID-19 vaccination drive-thru will begin administering COVID-19 vaccinations to adolescents age 12 and over. This comes following a May 12th recommendation by the CDC that endorsed the safety and effectiveness of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and its use in youth as young as 12. The CDC recommendation follows a May 10th decision by the FDA to expand the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine to include those 12 and above. Anyone under 18 receiving a COVID-19 vaccination must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
