James Lestle “Buster” Varney,73, of McAndrews, KY, passed away Saturday May 22, 2021, at Pikeville Medical Center. James was born August 17, 1947 at McAndrews, KY, to the late Lestle Varney and Myrtle Pugh Varney. James is preceded in by three siblings, Sandra Jarrell, Kenneth Varney and Michael Varney. James was a coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. James was also a veteran of the U.S. army and he loved to hunt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday May 25, 2021, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Varney Branch Cemetery, Kimper, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 – 9 PM Sunday and Monday night at the funeral home.
