Governor Andy Beshear spoke about a possible temporary bonus for adults claiming un-employment who go back to work. Beshear says this is not a concrete plan, but is a possibility for those who go back to work after claiming unemployment due to COVID19.
Beshear says Kentucky will not be canceling unemployment in the near future due to concerns that the state’s economy may have a difficult recovery and may drop from its current highs. Beshear says he also holds concerns that canceling unemployment for those claiming due to COVID19 may put families at risk of not having child care while parents go back to work. Beshear says he does not want to harm families and children of Kentucky.
Kentucky is once again in a downward trend of COVID19 cases, now with four consecutive weeks of a lowering positivity rate. Beshear announced that Senior Centers will now be among those opening on June 11th, also noting a rapidly growing vaccination percentage.
